Hannah and Dustin live in Indianapolis, and they thought it would be fun to do an 'engagement style' photo shoot while they were here visiting San Diego. Turns out Dustin is quite an accomplished wedding photographer back home, and John was extremely flattered that they chose him to do these photos. These guys had fantastic energy, and Dustin is a serious jumper. We did the tour, hitting La Jolla and Balboa Park. TONS of great shots.

Celia + Andrew at Windansea
Celia and Andrew flew out to San Diego from Chicago for their wedding. They met Kristy at a wedding she was shooting in Chicago, and wanted to book her for their destination wedding, but she was actually in Cabo for her own honeymoon...She told them about John. They had planned to have the wedding in Las Rocas down in Rosarito, but some of the guests were a little squeamish about going down with all the recent violence. So, quick change of plans, and they landed at this INCREDIBLE private home right on the beach at Windansea. John just LOVED shooting for them, they were relaxed (who couldn't be with this location?) and intimate.

Jennifer+John's Coronado Engagement Session - Aquario Studio - San Diego Wedding Photography
Jennifer and John also flew out from Texas for their engagement session. I guess Texans love to have destination weddings in San Diego! (Theirs will be in March, put together by Stacie Barba's talented team at A Day of Elegance). And why not?! It was another perfect day at the Hotel Del Coronado. Another extremely photogenic couple (are we blessed or what?), and I really had fun with my 'textures' afterward. I use various Photoshop overlays to make the right images even richer and deeper. You can also see a couple of images John shot with the infrared camera. This is a pretty cool thing: a digital Canon camera that John had converted into an infrared camera. In case you aren't familiar with the concept, it registers light in a spectrum we can't perceive. Kind of like Hawk-Vision. It can do some very weird things, like it turns tuxedos into mariachi clown-suits. Have to do a little retouching there...but with a little TLC, I find the right image to produce an amazing work of art.

Candice+Wade's La Jolla Engagement Session - Aquario Studio - San Diego Wedding Photography
Another Texan couple! Candice thought it would be fun to get some photos done at the beach during their vacation. Wade took it a little step further when he actually PROPOSED to her DURING the shoot. Wow. Totally took her by surprise. Of course, she said yes, and once she had cleaned up her mascara we got lots more great photos for their engagement session!
